The Lord
He owns my soul
And my heart is held
In His Love

sun’s angle was such that the light was streaming into the door of the barn. the horse and i

fool that i am
sorrow in a goodbye
that i did not want to say
i swallow my feelings whole
and they go down
like oysters raw
slipping into depth’s darkness
their salty trace
a bitter taste
on my tongue

i took the header photo, above, today on a road that i take fairly often.
it once was a back road to get to beaverton, it’s still a back road,
comparatively speaking. the traffic has gone from meandering tractors,
pick-ups and little car traffic, to very fast commuter traffic.
i pulled off the road as far as i could, which still left my car very close to
the line. it was late in the day and cloudy, but the sun was peeking out for
what i knew would only be a minute or two, so i put on the hazard lights,
and as they were blinking away, i grabbed my camera and watched for a
chance to jump out of my car.
quickly making my way to the middle of the bridge, to take the photograph,
cars were zooming past, and i imagined getting the life smacked out of me
by a car. but, as i saw the light hit the water, all was silent. for one second,
the world stood still.
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

there’s a song
in me
somewhere
that’s ready to sing
there’s a gift
inside
that’s hiding
words
not meant for
rhyming
rhythm
needing
the right timing
i know
it’s there
i feel
it’s beat
getting stronger
but
how
much longer
will it be
before i
see

memories
of a Christ-mas eve past
like a ghost they come
and haunt my thoughts
hazy now
but i remember
such a quiet night
all sleeping but i
secure under cover
stole a glimpse
around the darkened room
i viewed
shapes of little colour
and then
at the foot
of my bed standing
with a little glimmer
of smile
a twinkling
of eyes
he stood
all the while
sheer
barely there
a wee elf it was
waiting
watching me
was it to make sure i slept?
i don’t know
i covered my head
shut my eyes tight and
had lain as still as a child can
therein my long ago bed

three steps to knowledge of a word that is not enough, on it’s own,
to comprehend the meaning. yet, might be considered interesting.
fellowship
1.
a very good read about fellowship can be had at the study light blog. it will give you a very good insight to the words that are behind this english translation, and how they were used in the bible.
2.
the page on the word koinonia at wikipedia gives a lot of background information to the english translation of the word fellowship.
3.
here is a blog where you can hear the word kiononia pronounced.

for one word
at bridget’s place
it is everywhere
listening
this care held back
waiting
to be seen by man
watching
every closed heart
speaking
a quiet whisper
of Love
empty
baskets
waiting
we know
this
will stay with us
much longer
than
what is given
to us this day
our daily bread
we will remember
that is all we have
that is all we need
