pasta

IMG_4690

i picked this image to post… just because.
it was taken in 2008.
this machine presses the pasta dough thinner and cuts it into log strips,
by feeding the dough into the top and turning the crank.

imagine
this pasta with some garlic and clams,
or maybe a deep red tomato sauce.
or both…

with

a bunch of us sitting around a big table, passing bowls,
bread, and butter to one another, gabbing up a storm.

that thought just makes me grin.

Holy is the One . Poem

tomatillos oct 2007

Holy Is The One

always
coming
like the wind He
blows into
hearts unknowing

always with us
living through our
very being
we celebrate

worship
Him
more than on
certain days
people named

and
deemed Holy
the Gift
God has given
is

and He renews
that we may see
His Glory
and live
in His Love

taken

i had a dream
that i was pulled
through time
like an arrow
fast forward
i flew
into
halls of decay
decked for demolition
my body falling away
like peeling paint
all my
emptiness
left in the dust

rear view haiku

looking into my rear view mirror.

the rear view.
~

i wrote this quickly, thursday morning, before i left the house.

driving about 40 miles in all, i actually think that some
cars slowed down to read it.  imagine that, cars slowing
down for something!  especially at this time of year.
at least it might have entertained someone at one of the
stop lights.

if nothing else, i liked seeing it in my rear view mirror.

it would be better if i could get a marker that is not
quite as fat as the one they had at michael’s.  i had to
write on an angle to make thinner lines.

rejoice

etymology

c.1300, “to enjoy the possession of,”
from O.Fr. rejoiss-, stem of rejoissant, prp. of rejoir “gladden, rejoice,”
from re-, intensive prefix + joir “be glad,”
from L.gaudere “rejoice”.
Originally sense in to rejoice in.
Meaning “to be full of joy” is recorded from late 14c.

~~~
i don’t fully understand what it means to rejoice in the Lord.
though, i know that i am told to rejoice in the Lord.
perhaps, rejoice, because i am in the Lord,
enjoy the knowledge that i am able to be in the Lord.
to enjoy the possession of life in the Lord, for what it is,
and to rejoice in the Lord, for who He is.
i am thinking there are many ways that people rejoice.
i know that what, or who, i rejoice in is important,
along with the fact that i have been told that, in Jesus, i am to do it.
i believe that it is important to rejoice, in the Lord.
this, without always understanding how to rejoice in suffering for
my faith in Jesus, or in any kind of suffering for that matter.
perhaps, at those times, it’s a step in faith.
and, maybe it is very much like Love.
i understand
that some
understanding
can be
overrated,
but that faith
can not.
