what is
a day
split
into
life and
death
loss
asking
why
does not believe
how can a good God
take her son
and let so much pain
happen in the world
anger
and pain
have their way
with her
i visit
a careful
dance
to
understand
listen
and hope
to visit
to dance
again

On Christmas Day, we spoke briefly by phone with our family friend who is dying of cancer. There was spirit in his weakened voice. Such a truly good man reduced by the cancer physically but not spiritually. My sister has been taking care of him. I read this and thought instantly, you might have written it for her.
You are a good friend. To listen, to understand, to hope. And then to visit again.
oh, Nancy ,I do hope this isn't something a friend of yours is going through.

This does sound as though it is written from a life, as Glynn said.I pray this life finds peace of mind and heart.
a most difficult kind of day of long duration …
Maybe one day we will know the answer.
This sounds written from a life.
Deep questions, expressed clearly, where togetherness and time spent may be the only real answer. Nice poetry.
it is a hard day…and those are tough questions…but i too hope she finds that someday…
a day split into life and death…i like this and sometimes there are no easy answers to our questions..
